Exposed: Specta’s Passion for Music

Date:

Hope Kesmen, popularly known as Spectaniella, is a multifaceted individual. She is an Afrofusion singer, songwriter, photographer, lawyer, and entrepreneur, and her journey to becoming a recognized musician has been nothing short of remarkable. Hailing from the city of Jos, Specta, as she is fondly called, has relentlessly pursued her musical ambitions, poised to make her mark in Nigeria and the global music scene. For Spectaniella, music serves as her primary mode of self-expression, offering solace amidst life’s challenges. “I find myself singing throughout the day. Music allows me to explore different artistic realms and brings my ideas to life,” she shared.

In a recent interview, she reflected on her accomplishments, shedding light on the significance of her journey thus far.

“Over 17 years,” Spectaniella recounts, “I took on various roles, including selling shoes, practicing law, and pursuing photography, all in support of my musical aspirations. These diverse experiences have enriched my songwriting and musical style.”

“I possess a vivid imagination that requires the right tools to manifest,” Spectaniella remarks. “I have a decent grasp of dance and am eager to learn new choreographies.”

Her dedication has been recognized through numerous awards, including Best Female Artiste at the University of Jos in 2011/2012, and accolades such as Best Recording of the Year and Best Female Artiste at the Jos Industry Awards in 2014. She has also been honored as Best Performing Artiste and Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste in Jos in 2015, among other notable awards.

“Despite facing challenges such as limited support and financial constraints,” Spectaniella admits, “I persevered, seizing opportunities to perform and collaborate with renowned artists like Terry tha Rapman and producers like PuffyTee. Sharing stages with industry heavyweights such
as Timaya and M.I. further bolstered my musical journey.”

“Spectaniella’s resilience shines through as she navigates self-doubt and continues to evolve creatively,” says the source. “She now operates under her record label, The Battalion, assuming the role of General as she steers her musical career forward. Beyond music, Specta also owns an online shoe company and a video and photography enterprise called Specta Images.” “Her musical odyssey began at a young age,” Specta reminisces, “inspired by my father’s eclectic musical tastes and nurtured by my love for literature. Secondary school marked a turning point, where my passion for music flourished, culminating in my discovery of the recording studio and the intricacies of songwriting.”

“Specta’s journey is a testament to her unwavering passion for music and her relentless pursuit of artistic excellence,” concludes the source. “As she continues to blaze her trail in the music industry, her story inspires aspiring musicians everywhere.”
